தமிழ்நாடு அரசுப் பணியாளர் தேர்வாணையம் – குரூப் II

Group II and IIA services — Assistant Section Officer, Sub Registrar, Deputy Commercial Tax Officer, Probation Officer and related posts. Preliminary plus main written examination, no interview.

Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission · Notification No. 07/2026 · 2026

Age limit, as on 1 Jul 2026

18 to 32 for the general category ; 60 for SC, SC(A), ST, MBC/DC and BC.

To be under the general ceiling of 32, the date of birth must be on or after 2 Jul 1994. The limit applies to the rounding of completed years, so a birthday falling on the cut-off date itself is outside it.

Age limit — Group II and IIA posts (except Executive Officer, Grade III)

Calculated as on 1 Jul 2026. A candidate must have completed 18 years by that date, and must not have completed the maximum shown for their community.

Maximum age by community category for Group II and IIA posts (except Executive Officer, Grade III)
Community Minimum Maximum PwBD Ex-servicemen Destitute widow
General / Others 18 32 42 50 60
BC (OBCM) 18 60 60 60 60

Scheduled Caste 18 60 60 60 60
SC (Arunthathiyar) 18 60 60 60 60
Scheduled Tribe 18 60 60 60 60

The PwBD, ex-servicemen and destitute-widow columns are absolute ceilings printed in the notification, not years added to the community limit. A community ceiling can only be claimed with a valid Tamil Nadu community certificate.

This is the most misunderstood rule in the notification: for reserved categories the table says ‘No maximum age limit’ for almost every Group II post, and para 4.1.3 defines that as not having completed 60 years. The 32/37 figures apply to the general category and to the few posts with their own numbers (Deputy Commercial Tax Officer 37, or 39 with a law degree; Probation Officer minimum 22; Sub Registrar minimum 20).
